As an autistic and mother of autistic children I once allowed my now ex partner to discreetly film my sons meltdown.

In the three minute video I was hit thirty three times, my sons distress was complete and it was heartbreaking to see.

The short was shown to the paed (with no volume and without my sons knowledge) to show the level of his distress in ...

Really Autism, yeah really!

Posted by:

‘Really Autism? You going to start before I even have a cup of coffee?’

Yes really.

That was posted in an Autism ‘support’ group. My friend and colleague Rochelle has written about it here.

I couldn’t resist replying ‘Really Neurotypical? You need a coffee first?’

The poster replied asking why I was offended. I explained I am Autistic and I found the fact she referred to her son as Autism not as ...

Proud Autistic!!!

Eugenics seems like an obvious eventuality

When you have an Autism One mentality

People say nah it’s getting better

But they didn’t see the Autism Speaks campaign

Don’t live what we’re living

Don’t give what we’re giving

The strength it takes to live as we do

Treated as epidemics called lepers

Puzzle pieces blue

Sound the alarms

Apparently

We will over run your life

Break up your home

Ruin your finances

Take your wife!

Called ...

No More Darkness

No More Darkness – Rosemarie Carreiro

Waited for it to be given back
Waited for the right time
Waited for the ...

Lovaas Applied Behavioural Analysis

An Autistic View

Therapies are calling themselves ABA in order to get paid by insurance companies that will only fund ABA.

So we have Feeding therapy, Play therapy and Music Therapy masquerading as ABA.

True ABA was invented by Lovaas who believed a harsh repetitive regime would force children to blend in with neurotypical society.

Parents are told as soon as their child is diagnosed as autistic that ...
